I SO love spring and fall, when all we need at most is a fan or two.

I feel like I'm totally sticking it to the man when I'm perfectly comfortable and it doesn't cost sh!t.

We had a month like that, I guess from late September to late October. I refused to run the air or the heat during the changeover. Electric bill was $105. (It's the dryer. Got a 9 month old. The dryer is ALWAYS in use, it seems).

Still ridiculous, compared to before the rate hike, but beats the $300 bills in the winter and summer.

I don't look at the bills.. My wife takes care of them...

There is a very good reason for it.....

Sounds like our household. I take care of all the bills. He has no clue what we have in any of our accounts. If he wants to make a big purchase, he calls and asks if we have money to cover it.

I refuse to tell him how rich we are.....lol

Big, old, house with old windows and storms, plaster walls. Hot water baseboard heat, oil fired.
$82.30 January bill. Delmarva Power. Toasty warm here in Kent County.

Don't feel bad... I pay all the bills at our house too. Chase doesn't even know what half of them are let alone when they are due.

He perfers it this way, so I can't get mad at him if something doesn't get paid on time.

My wife pays the bills too...literally and figuratively. Most are in my name. Sometimes she pays late...which causes finance charges and changes in my credit score. But the ones in her name seem to always be paid on time...coincidence?

We live in a 3-bedroom rancher. One room has no heat and crappy walls and can let in some cold. So, we run an electric oil-filled "radiator" heater in there and put a rolled blanket in front of the door on the floor. In the winter we put plastic up over the windows and cover the A/C units w/ plastic (windows aren't double-hung so can't take them out).

We have oil heat (oil-fired furnace w/ hot water baseboards). The baseboards run pretty much around the entire perimeter of the house. We keep the thermostat set to 68-70 in the evenings to warm the house up, then cut it back to 65 for sleeping since we're under blankets, and leave it between 65-68 during the day when we're working.

Last month's Delmarva bill was the highest it's been in a while, around $100. During the summer it was around $50-$70.

Now, If I had still been living in my 2-story house in Killmington, I would have easily had a $350+ Delmarva bill instead.

FYI: I keep getting evening calls from the electric supplier to Demarva, wanting to lower my bill by 15% until March or May (forget which). Supposedly no catch. Has anyone else got this offer?
