| We live in a 3-bedroom rancher. One room has no heat and crappy walls and can let in some cold. So, we run an electric oil-filled "radiator" heater in there and put a rolled blanket in front of the door on the floor. In the winter we put plastic up over the windows and cover the A/C units w/ plastic (windows aren't double-hung so can't take them out).
We have oil heat (oil-fired furnace w/ hot water baseboards). The baseboards run pretty much around the entire perimeter of the house. We keep the thermostat set to 68-70 in the evenings to warm the house up, then cut it back to 65 for sleeping since we're under blankets, and leave it between 65-68 during the day when we're working.
Last month's Delmarva bill was the highest it's been in a while, around $100. During the summer it was around $50-$70.
Now, If I had still been living in my 2-story house in Killmington, I would have easily had a $350+ Delmarva bill instead.
FYI: I keep getting evening calls from the electric supplier to Demarva, wanting to lower my bill by 15% until March or May (forget which). Supposedly no catch. Has anyone else got this offer?
