New Castle County police detectives are investigating a pair of unrelated pizza delivery robberies that occurred over the weekend in which food was ordered and then the deliveryman was robbed.

The first robbery occurred about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Bonwood Road in the Canby Park area near Elsmere, said Cpl. Trinidad Navarro, a county police spokesman.

An officer arrived within minutes and talked to the 33-year-old driver.

He said he was walking to the apartment where the order was to be delivered and an armed man dressed in a red long-sleeve shirt jumped out from behind a bush and pointed a gun at him.

The gunman stole cash and the food order before running off behind the apartment complex.

Then at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, bandits ordered several pizzas, wings and drinks to be delivered to a home in the first block of Defoe Circle in the Woodland Trail community in Bear.

When the 51-year-old deliveryman arrived with the order, the house was dark, so he left the food order in his car and went to knock on the door.

It was then that two men approached him from behind the home and demanded his money.

Then, the assailants punched him in the face, Navarro said.

The deliveryman tried to run but was thrown to the ground and robbed.

The assailants, who were dressed in dark clothing, got the money but not the food, Navarro said.

Police are asking anyone with information on either of the robberies to call 395-8171 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at(800) TIP-3333.

If I were a delivery person, I'd want the phone number of the place where I'm going. If the house is dark, they would have to talk to me on the phone before I even got out.

I think if someone beat me up and stole my money I wouldn't go online, with my picture posted, and talk about how they are going to get caught because I made a positive ID...

thats really terrible,but i see things geeting worsr b 4 it gets better with all the people loosing there jobs and stuff

No your right he does.

This truly pisses me off! These delivery people are not rich and do not carry a lot of money, but they are easy targets for lazy ass crack-heads to steal from. I can only imagine what it must be like for that worker to go back to work knowing that the next delivery they make could be a robbery or them being murdered.
