Re: The National Anthem

begin mini rant.

it pisses me off when I go to a sporting event and dudes don't
take off their hats during the anthem. I want to rip it off their
heads.

end mini rant.

Re: The National Anthem

I've heard it so many times that I don't mind different takes. I could live without the vocal histrionics, but what really bothers me is how some people turn it into a 5 minute performance.

I was at a graduation this summer in a sweltering hot gymnasium, packed with sweaty people, and the girl started in with it...and we all knew it was going to be one of those InnaGaddaDaVida marathons. I was looking at my wife and making a big deal out of looking at my watch while she was punching me in the kidney for being ignorant...but come on, man. Cut to the chase.

Re: The National Anthem

I call it the 'Whitney Houston-in-Super Bowl 25-Wanna-Be Syndrome'.
Whitney did a most powerful rendition years ago...and now every 'up and coming' singer wants to put their own over-inflection spin on it. And usually they fail miserably.

Re: The National Anthem

I prefer the Anthem when it's done by barbershop quartet......

Or Enrico Palazzo. Whichever you got.

Re: The National Anthem

When sung right, and correctly and proudly, it always makes me almost tear up.

I know, very unmanly of me. But the song moves me every time.
