Mowing and Beer

On Saturday afternoon, I was sitting in my lawn chair, drinking beer

and watching my wife mow the lawn.

The neighbor lady from across the street was so outraged that she

came over and shouted at me,

'You should be hung!'

I took a drink from my can of Miller Lite, wiped the cold foam from

my lips, lifted my darkened Ray Ban sunglasses and stared directly

into the eyes of this nosy ass neighbor and then calmly replied,

'I am. That's why she cuts the grass'

For some reason, I had managed to make it to the age of 18 or so without ever having mowed a lawn. I don't know why, it just happened that way. I had chores aplenty, mowing the lawn was just never one of them.

So one day I went to my friend's (advil30, actually) house, and he said he couldn't really do anything until he'd mowed the lawn. No problem, I'll wait. So he drags out the push mower, jockeys it into position, and then.. I just suddenly wanted to know what it was all about. I'd never mown a lawn before, I figured I should know, just in case one day I had to.

So I asked, "Hey advil30. Can I mow the lawn?"

He looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears until I explained my situation. Never done it. Wanna try it. Do you mind?

He said, "Well sure, lady, give it a go."

So I did. He took my place on the front step, lit a cigarette and watched.

And then one of his neighbors drove by. And she leaned out of the window, called him by his full name (First, middle, AND last) and said, "YOU OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED! I'LL TELL YOUR MOTHER!"
