Is that a commentary on our macho culture? As a gay man I feel perfectly comfortable commenting on another man's hair or looks or whatever without it being anything other than that.

I know that guys look at other guys and internally "size them up". But I also know a lot guys that feel it's taboo to say it out loud...Weird IMO.

Not so much that it's taboo, no ... I just can't imagine me thinking I would like your hair enough to comment on it. Whereas your clothes, a nice tie, good looking shoes, sure ... but hair just never would have crossed my mind.
