But bigger picture here............

Who is responsible for the power that Jesse Jackson has? Is it the blacks in this country? Do they look up to the Jesse Jacksons and are they proud of his leadership? Are they proud of the way Jesse has handled race relations in this country and how he has made the country a better place for blacks? Has Jesse made the country a better place for blacks?

Is it the whites in this country? When Jesse speaks, are whites fearful to say anything against what Jesse speaks for fear of being considered a hate monger and a racist?

I'm just wondering....

I think its a combination of both GL. Obviously, he would be nothing without financial and moral support, but he wouldn't have become much of anything if he was stood up to from the get-go.

I can't believe that JJ has been this over board all the time in the past.

But then again, maybe, that's why he has become the figure he has, it's because he goes overboard.

Maybe... He's a mad genius. He may think if he goes over board and get a ton of attention (even bad) which he does, some change is made... awareness is brought to an issue. It doesn't matter to him if he is mocked or ridiculed... because people pay attention to him.

To some point I think white officials are afraid to stand up to him or to say something is outrageous to his face... if they go against this man, they can loose votes and public opinion. Don't you think JJ and AS know this? That is why they use the media, it's an outlet... if either of them speak... all media outlets cover it. Could you imagine if a media outlet didn't cover what one of them had to say... together they could literally close a major media company.

While I might not like either of them... you got to hand it to them, they get changes made and they bring awareness to issues. Personally, every time I hear their names I cringe... yet, they still get it done. And that is what they are about.

Wow, you got me to thinking about this from another angle, GL. Could it be that certain whites in this country back him so that hatred abounds and there's no natural merging of the races? If there were no JJ or AS, would we all be more tolerant and open to each other? I know the blacks in my world don't think much of either man's tactics. It's something to think about. I wonder who their backers are really.
