We had PJ Fitzpatrick do our gutters and they did an excellent job.. I'd definitely recommend them..

Re: Home Improvement Recommendations

we got a quote from PJ's
they do excellent work but their price for siding was way out of my budget. Twice as much as any one else so far, 28k for a ranch house just too much for me

How big is your house ?

For every 200 square feet is only 140 for the siding

Do you have the dimensions of the house then all ya need is the height to get the total sq ft

When you bought did they tell ya its a 2000 sq ft house or something like that ?

Re: Home Improvement Recommendations

I want to put vinyl on my house, but everyone looks at me like I'm nuts when I tell 'em I want it put over the current siding. Currently, I have painted cedar. I was told by a friend that I shouldn't let anyone remove it, because it deters bugs.

Still waiting for the finished drawings for my attic remodel. We're hoping to start that next month. The house was enough of a mess when the new heat/ac went in. Can't wait to see what it's like with this!

Joey I am no expert but from what I have been told you only take down cedar shakes if they are really warped or if they are damaged as to show the sheathing

That will give ya a general idea how big the house is

if its 2000 sq ft I would say 8 boxes for screwups and any miscalculation

8 boxes @ 140 = 1120
Corner post's and J channel say another 200

Round up to 1500 that is what the material would cost you a contractor would get it cheaper so the rest is labor and and his huge cut in it.

If I was younger I would quit my job and do siding full time

you got quoted 28k even say he spent 1500 on material that is a 26.5k profit
