My Mood: | | | Handicap Toilet This thread was inspired by Panama Girl's thread about public bathroom "squatters". Rather than highjack her thread, I posted here.
There was an episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on HBO where Larry David gets busted by a handicap person using the handicapped stall in a public bathroom. (Hilarious show, for those who never saw it).
Anyway, my wife and I both have experienced "dirty looks" from other bathroom patrons when we use the handicap stall. (and the looks come from non-handicapped people).
What is everyones opinion on the use of the stall? Mine is, if there are no handicapped people in the bathroom, that stall is fair game. Same opinion holds true for the handicapped seats on a bus. Why should they go unused if there is no handicapped person there to use them?
Please realize I have someone very close to me who is not really handicapped, but needs assistance. I realize the need for handicap access, etc. However, I think the bathroom stall and the bus seat should be available to all, absent a handicap person there to use it.

I never had a HC tag I never thought it was necessary. But people who fly into a HC parking spot and get out and walk to the store while I was rolling along from 200 years away Yes they would get a piece of my mind. | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Naomi For This Useful Post:

Whenever I have to use the handicap stall, I walk in and think "I've arrived"! The Executive Washroom. Plenty of room, sometimes your own sink, and extra elevation. (Some non-handicap stalls have the toilet WAY too low to the ground). | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Bada Bing For This Useful Post:

I'm overweight but I don't consider it to be a handicap for me becaue I'm still pretty agile. My Dad likely qualifies as handicapped overweight, especially because he's 68 and slowing down with age... *sniffle* I miss my Daddy...
