I guess that is the beauty of God and this country, neither one forces you to believe in one religion or follow one way of life. You are free to follow what ever you want, whether it be the Bible, the Koran, Tom Cruise, etc.

Re: Is god really out there?

That's exactly what I was trying to say CR. Feel free to believe what you will....I will never stop anyone from living their lives the way they want to. The feeling I always get is this condescention from people that are religious. That they have this moral upper hand or some insane thing like that. Someone wanting to be friends with someone without faith to make them 'see the light' or what have you...that is not letting them believe what they want to believe....I never look down upon someone who is religious, yet, I don't feel the same is true...

I don't befriend people who don't believe to make them see the light. I make friends with people because I like people. My faith is a huge part of who I am and happens to come up in conversation from time to time. I feel the need to share with them my faith, not because I feel I have the moral upper hand (where you got that, I'll never know) but because God commands Christians to travel to the ends of the earth and spread the gospel. If what I believe is true (and, I believe it is) and those who do not accept Christ as there Saviour are going to Hell, what kind of person would I be to NOT share that with them?

Re: Is god really out there?

I think it is hilarious that if a Christian voices there opinion on beliefs then they are deemed as "Bible Beaters." It is okay for a non-Christian to say what ever negative thing they want to say. But if I say something against his belief then I am acting holyer than though. I have continually said believe what you want to believe and that you are entitled to your opinion. I do not think I am any better than the next guy and I would appreciate it if you would stop the blanket stereotypes.

Re: Is god really out there?

I WANT to fellowship with those who do not believe because I feel that they are in a very dangerous place. A place where their very souls are at stake and how dare I not share with them the gift of which I have been blessed?

This is what I was talking about....and for record heddy, I have not once made fun of nor called anyone names such as bible beaters....hence the statement I keep making over and over again that I could care less what you believe. I don't make fun of people because of that. I am merely stating my opinion, as you are yours.

RG (more jokingly, but what the heck) said she thinks God as santa. her opinion, her thought, what have you. your reply was that was a asinine statement, so i guess shes not entitled to her opinion.

I was just saying in general that is the opinion. I have actually read it on another thread written by another member.

I find it amusing that some people can't see the obvious parallels between God/Jesus and Santa Claus. Just a few for you to ponder:

God is omnipotent (all powerful).

Santa is omnipotent (can deliver all the toys of the world in one night.)
God is omniscient (knows all).
Santa is omniscient (knows if you’ve been bad or good).

God commands children to obey parents.

Santa tells children to obey parents.
God is eternal/ageless.

Santa Claus is eternal/ageless.
The hour of God's coming is a mystery.
The hour of Santa's coming is a mystery (for the most part).

God lives in the north (Heaven).

Santa lives at the North Pole.
Jesus was a carpenter.

Santa's a carpenter (builds toys).
Jesus said "Suffer the little children to come unto me."

Santa bids children to come to him.
God judges.

Santa judges whether or not you were good or bad.
God is referred to as the Everlasting Father.

Santa is referred to as Father Christmas
God has the disciples.
Santa has the Elves.

To answer the question originally posted, Is God Really Out There? IMO, he's out there as much as Santa's out there.
