Re: Considering a Bike Ride ...

My brother-in-law is also looking to get the Vulcan 900, but the Classic version.

I just finished the MSF class last weekend and got my motorcycle license.

Re: Considering a Bike Ride ...

that's an idea I've kicked around every once in awhile...I dunno if I could ride it to work in the winter on the freeway when its cold as balls...of course...in the snow and rain id take my car/truck...but I dunno...im assuming your considering this for a commuter...you've got to weigh in the cost to insure the bike as well with that 45mpg figure...never understood why some people just look at the mpg figures and go buy it right away...

I don't know anything about motorcycles, but that is one awesome looking bike.

Yes, if you're looking at car/truck replacement miles and the savings, here's a calculator in this article:
Is a scooter the answer? - MSN Money

Its an article about scooters, but applies to MCs as well.

The one thing to take into consideration with this calculator is that it assumes that the money spent on the MC is lost the moment you spend it, but of course the bike still has resale value.

Ha, we already considered that one as we all just got new bicycles in the last 3 weeks. That's a story in itself because my son's new bike was stolen the second day he had it. He slept over at a friend's house and left it out front, and this was before I had a chance to record the Serial Numbers and engrave their names in them like I usually do so it's not like I could even prove it was ours if we knew where it was.

It's been located however, a few days ago on the outskirts of town the kids saw it while riding their bikes, my son on my new bike and my daughter on her own so they came home and dropped one off and went back to get it. I'm not exactly keen on how they handled it because they didn't come to me first and I did talk to them about it, no discipline issued. Also, there's no doubt that it's his bike because the two of them (son and daughter) swapped 2 pegs from each bike so both had 2 black and 2 chrome pegs. The one that they recovered had the same pattern. It's safely sitting in the shed at the moment, engraved ...

I love the cold weather so if it's dry I would use it year round depending on the situation, I mean all things good in moderation. However, for as little as I use my own vehicle in a week aside from going to Philly when the Flyers pick back up I would hardly call it a (daily) commuter. My work truck (company vehicle) is sitting in the drive as it always does when I'm not working ...

I normally don't like that color but it looks great on that bike.
