It's a hobby.... albeit an expensive one......

If I had more money than brains I'd have all of the legos that I didn't have when I was a kid.....

Hell If I wasn't as sore as I am, I would pull mine out and give em a once over....
(I have them in a safe place to keep Hannah out of em when I'm not around.)

I also collect Hot wheels and pool cues and dust...

speaking of collecting dust... can you imagine having to dust that thing.... and it's nothing you could actually display on a shelf or mantel....

Lewin, there's a different challenge involving the use of Legos as compared to wood. That ~~monster~~ model ship is a technical challenge in its own right. Wood can be cut, bent and otherwise shaped. Lego blocks can't.

Besides, when all is said and done, wood or plastic, this is proof that this guy has waaaayyyy too much time on his hands.

That really is awesome. The attention to the fine details is amazing.

I don't think it's a waste of time. It's a hobby/diversion like anything else.

I'll spend a couple hours doing the Times Sunday crossword, or Sudoku puzzles. I find it tickles my brain in a pleasing way. I'm sure this guy gets the same kind of stimulation out of his hobby.

But I do agree...that looks like about $50,000 worth of Legos. Those things AIN'T cheap.

He could be doping, robbing banks, or screwing little children as opposed to expressing an amazingly creative and somewhat engineering-based bent of mind.

It's his free time. As long as he's not breaking the law, who cares what he does with it? Some guys work on cars, some guys play pool, some guys play with boats, some guys fly airplanes, some guys build models. This guy builds stuff with Lego's.

*shrugs*

I, for one, think it's pretty cool.
