Apartment Living Rant

In my building there are four sections. Each section has 6 units. Each section of six units has ONE clothes washer and ONE clothes dryer.

Do the people in my frickin' section have ANYTHING to do with their time other than their laundry? EVER friggin time I go down there to try and do my laundry, there's wet laundry sitting in the washer.

EVERY TIME.

It's really starting to tick me off.

Re: Apartment Living Rant

Those wet clothes would be sitting on top of the dryer, and my stuff would be a'washin. Bet. Unless they had another hamper of clothes sitting there. Then I guess I'd give them 10 minutes.

Not enough appliance for people to be dicking around.

One washer and one dryer is a joke.

We have 2 and 2 for 12 units, and that's a joke, too.

Re: Apartment Living Rant

I don't know if any other apartment dwellers deal with this or not.

We have comcast digital cable, phone and internet.

WHENEVER our upstairs neighbors get a cell phone call, our TV schizzes, and if the computer speakers are on, they pop with static until upstairs answers the phone. This goes on all day and night sporadically.

I had gotten used to it...until...

I plugged my iPod earphones into the computer speakers the other day so I could listen to music online and not wake the baby asleep near the computer. I guess I had it turned up a little loud. Welll.....

Sure enough, upstairs got a cell call, and my friggin' ear drums got FRIED!

Fool me once....

Re: Apartment Living Rant

Mine do that, but only when *we're* getting a call on one of our cell phones and we've left it close to the TV or computer.

We don't have comcast phone, though.

Re: Apartment Living Rant

Argh, apartment laundry is the worst. I dealt with it for four years in the dorms, and then 3 years in apartments after that.

I never understood why, if people aren't willing to wait with their laundry, they can't come and collect it in a timely manner. Half an hour, people. Set your watch!

Re: Apartment Living Rant

that's what I was gonna say Py....Have you thought about going to the Laundramat? You could probably get your laundry done a lot quicker that way.

I am SOOOOOOO glad that my apartment has a washer and dryer in it.

Exclamation Re: Apartment Living Rant

Sounds like abandoned clothing to me, I wouldn't hesitate to move it and given the situation that you describe (one and one) I would have plenty of disposable gloves in with my laundry gear for those occasions ...

Do you have room for a small stackalbe unit of your own, and is it allowed ?

Re: Apartment Living Rant

I have lived in my appartment for over 14 yrs and I can tell you it's a pain in the ass trying to do the wash.I got sick of waiting to use the washer and dryer, staying up late to get it all done. Screw that crap... I use to put peoples things on the table, but hey if I didn't want them touching my things then I had no right touching their either. The laundramat is the best way to go, I get it all done in one shot. Yes we have 12 units with one washer and dryer. They sent around a notice a few months ago saying, "we have notice that some of you don't do you wash at the appartment,is there a reason why" well duh. I guess the ones who own the damn things aren't making any money because most of us don't use the freaking washers and dryers. PAIN IN THE ASS!
