Have you had any trouble that way? I mean, I just know what we went through when one of the upstairs toilets didn't stop filling and it became a fountain (clean water thank God)for 10 minutes before we caught it; I couldn't imagine a washing machine problem. | Never had a flooding issue, or any issue for that matter. <knock, knock>. I see your concern but I would think that a toilet would be much more likely to overflow/leak than a washing machine.
There are hot and cold shutoff valves right next to the machines, so when I go away I can shut them off for piece of mind. |

My Mood: | | | Re: Apartment Living Rant i had the same problem, the idiots would leave their wash in the machines for hours, sometimes overnight! i would give them 20 mins (tops) to retreive their clothes, if not, they got piled on the table and i did my laundry as usual. sometimes i would be finished with the washing and drying and their clothes would STILL be piled on the table !!

My Mood: | | | Re: Apartment Living Rant as an addendum to my latest post, regarding apartment washer and dryers... one day i went to the laundry room and found a homeless guy sleeping there,,,
the next day i found that he used to washing machine as a TOILET.. for # 2
i called the cops and the apartment office. to make a long story short, i told them they need to replcaed the washing machine with a new one, no amount of bleach is going to make me want to use that machine again. it was VILE....
they did though... they had a spanking new machine there a few days later.
i bought a house not long after that... thank goodness !!!
and the cops never caught the guy, they told me alot of apartment complexes have issues with homeless people sleeping in their bldgs. |

You prolly already know that that's normal for Europe, to have the laundry in the kitchen. Makes sense to me. I love my brothers all in one washer AND dryer machine that fits under the counter like a dishwasher. Put your clothes in one machine. Come home and they are washed AND dried. I noticed LG makes one model available in the US now. | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to hockey For This Useful Post:

My wife uses it to keep up on socks, undies and baby clothes. It's basically a waste of electricity to use it for anything else. 4 loads in a standard washer is about 12 loads in that thing. | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Kid Lester For This Useful Post:

Being a bachelor, I do laundry in bulk. That would never work for me.
Great idea though, and just the fact that it's out there leaves hope for improvement. |

I remember those days.. That was the one thing I hate while living there Kid... Problem we had, was that our unit was right next door to the laundry room.. It was quite noisy.. Plus the people who would leave their clothes in the washer or dryer for .HOURS on end.... Man, that would piss me off...
