My Mood: | | OK, my own 'welcome me' thread. I am, therefore I think.
To start again, because I thought the other thread was an invite for all to post, Hi.
I am who I am said a wise sailor. And that's who I am. I am me. I was raised in Delaware County, PA, in Lower Chichester, Linwood to be specific. I used to ride my bike to watch movies at Tri-State Mall in Claymont even though I used to think that was Wilmington because Wilmington Dry goods was there.
I lived a wild and wonderful life as a youngster in the 70's and got to enjoy the interesting 80's to a very large degree before marrying... coincidently, that's when the AIDS threat was discovered. Good timing... I was off the meat market.
Had 3 younguns before the 80's were out then had a little operation of my own. Ouch.
Was raised a good liberal child, the 2nd son of a public school teacher who was the 2nd son of a good ol' union man from BP Oil. My mothers father was a Union leader and it's said he'd done some mighty unconscionable things but there's little evidence to back the family stories. I was named after this nations favorite President... what was his name, that guy who's brother had Marilyn Monroe 'offed'?
Anyway, like a week old puppy, eventually my eyes opened up and I was no longer a died-in-the-wool liberal. Too much guilt combined with spending other people's money, not enough real empathy and personal action.
So, after living on food stamps and WIC for a few years I decided to do whatever it took to get away from government assistance. Eventually I moved up the job ladders and realized I had skills to offer that were worth money. On a huge chance, I moved to Middletown, Delaware to escape the crime and drugs of the city.
After working in downtown Wilmington for 5 years I went corporate and worked for a national retailer who promoted me more often in the next 5 years than I though possible. This resulted in two major moves, one to Winston-Salem, NC and then a year or so later to the Atlanta area.
It was there that my corporate ladder-climbing days were over as I watched the higher ups make major financial mistake after another and I quit. Eventually I landed back in Delaware, this time farther south.
After realizing that the local earnings were quite meager compared to the rest of the free world, I eventually left and built my own business.
My oldest heads to Army boot camp within a few weeks, my 2nd will be in Air Force Boot Camp in 10 days and my youngest is going to graduate next year.
To heck with Readers Digest, I think I squeezed my entire life in the shortest possible version... and why? Because when I give an opinion on this site, I want people to know that they are not dealing with a typical ANYTHING but a guy who has been on both sides of the political extremes and come away somewhat scarred but otherwise, WISE!
Oh, yeah... My hobbies are photography, music and I enjoy long walks on the beach and any food involving beef and mashed potatoes.
I will now take your questions....

My Mood: | | Re: OK, my own 'welcome me' thread. That's a great intro for sure, so much that it feels like I already know you ... Welcome to TD, it's filled with great discussions that at any given time none of us will always agree with, and to that end you'll fit in just fine.
