Over-reclining and other flier offenses: What would you do?

You're sitting in an airplane's middle seat and your seatmates take both armrests. What do you do? Nothing, apparently.

For all the air rage people express online, nearly 50% of travelers say they would sit quietly and say nothing, according to a Travel Leaders Group survey released Monday. About a quarter say they would say something directly to their seatmates.

There was no option to say you'd seize the armrest when the armrest hog gets up to go to the restroom.
What if the person in the airline seat in front of you didn't put his or her seat back upright for takeoff and/or landing? Half say: "Sit quietly and say nothing."

Or if you were on a flight with people who talked so loudly that half the plane could hear them? More than one-third have the same "do nothing" answer. More than a quarter of responders would call a flight attendant to handle the loudmouth.

So what does it take to get travelers to speak to offenders directly? A pretty clear invasion of personal space apparently.

More than half of fliers would say something directly to someone who reclined so much that they couldn't lower their tray table or open up a laptop. If the traveler in the seat in front of you "invaded your personal space with an article of clothing and/or their hair so it was directly in front of you," more than two-thirds would speak to the "invader" directly. read more
----------------------------------------

Invading my space is a no no on the flight and I have said things to people and done things to others that didn't heed my polite words.

I travel quite a bit and fly very often. All in all I have to say that most travelers are very easy to get along with.

I do have to say that I have no desire to sit and chat. I don't want to talk to you. I don't care to hear kids and babys cry either. That is why I invest in noise reducing headphones. I put on my sun glasses and I keep to myself.

There was one time a flyer that sat behind me on a flight. His legs and feet keep moving under my seat and touching my feet. After a few polite kick backs on his feet I did turn to him and mention that his homosexual attempts to to let me know of his gay interest in me was not appreciated and would he please move his feet back to avoid mine. He did not. He continued to play footsie with me to which I took matters into my own hands. I gently untied his shoes and retied them together to each other in a knot that was not easily undone. I was off the plane and long down the terminal before he ever got himself untied and off the plane.

I will tell my rowmates, if their feet are over on my side or their arms are over on my side to move.

Aggressive driving campaign begins

What kind of driver are you? Are you that guy who speeds or cuts people off? Then you are an aggressive driver.

The state Office of Highway Safety is targeting aggressive drivers starting Tuesday. Spokeswoman Alison Kirk says there's also an education component.

"People can go online and take a fun little quiz to see what type of driver they are, and they can learn about the violations and the penalties for aggressive driving," she said.

The top aggressive driving behavior that causes crashes is failure to yield the right-of-way.

"People might not know that you get 6 points on your license if you're convicted of aggressive driving, and you also have to take a drive behavior modification class, which is not very fun," she said.

There have been 24 fatal crashes this year, eight of which were caused by aggressive driving behaviors.

There will be four two-week mini waves of enforcement beginning May 7th and ending in September.

Anthony Lolli, founder and owner of Rapid Realty, is giving his employees a chance to show their team spirit and earn some extra cash by getting a tattoo of the company logo on their bodies.

Rapid Realty, based in Brooklyn, N.Y., with 62 locations from New Jersey to Boston, has 1,100 employees.

Lolli said about 40 have taken him up on his offer for a 15 percent raise if they get a tattoo of the company logo.

It all started about a year and a half ago, when one of Lolli’s top agents worked with a tattoo artist to find commercial space. After the artist suggested he get a tattoo, the agent decided on the company logo.

That inspired Lolli to implement a company-wide program that allows workers to get a 15 percent raise if they do charity work, produce certain benchmarks, mentor a new employee, or if they get inked.

Tyler Evenson, 25, is a licensed real estate agent with Rapid Realty in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn. He said he was the second person to get a tattoo of the company logo almost two years ago.

“When I did it, we were very proud of our company and where we worked and it was fun for us,” said Evenson, who has the tattoo on his right arm. read more
