Dr. Joyce Brothers, a psychologist and television personality who appeared on many shows over the years, has died at age 85.
She passed away on Monday, May 13, in New York City, her spokesperson told the Associated Press. The cause of Brothers' death was unclear.

The psychologist, whose maiden name was Joyce Bauer, was born in New York on Sept. 20, 1928. She was married once. Her husband, Milton Brothers, died in 1989 from cancer. They had one daughter.
Brothers rose to fame after winning the game show "The $64,000 Question" in 1955. She was the only woman to ever win the show's top prize. She later hosted her own TV advice show and wrote a syndicated newspaper column in the 1970s.
Throughout the next 30 years, Brothers made guest appearances on many TV shows, such as "JAG" (pictured), "Married with Children," "Felicity," "The Nanny" and "Entourage." source

Angelina Jolie reveals she had double mastectomy

Angelina Jolie reveals her cancer risk, double mastectomyAngelina Jolie recently had a double mastectomy, according to an op-ed published in the New...

Angelina Jolie reveals her cancer risk, double mastectomy

Angelina Jolie recently had a double mastectomy, according to an op-ed published in the New York Times on May 14.

The 37-year-old actress underwent nearly three months of medical procedures, from Feb.2 to Apr. 27, to have both her breasts removed and cosmetically restored. The double mastectomy came in response to the reveleation that Jolie was a carrier of a 'faulty' gene, BRCA1, which increased her risk of developing breast and ovarion cancer.

The article, titled "My Medical Choice," also revealed how Jolie's mother, the late actress Marcheline Bertrand, died from cancer at the age of 56. Jolie, who was told by doctors that she had an 87 percent risk of contracting breast cancer, listed her own children as a primary motive for having the procedure.

"We often speak of 'Mommy's mommy,' and I find myself trying to explain the illness that took her away from us," Jolie, a mother of six, wrote in response to conversations with her children about their deceased grandmother.

"They have asked if the same could happen to me. I have always told them not to worry, but the truth is I carry a 'faulty' gene, BRCA1, which sharply increases my risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer."

The double mastectomy, which, according to Jolie, left only "small scars," decreased her risk of developing breast cancer from 87 percent to under 5 percent. She also wrote that she was "fortunate" to have her partner Brad Pitt for his support. read more

were you a fan of 24? It's back! And while it is only 12 episodes, the fact that Fox is bringing back Jack Bauer and another national crisis is cool. I was a big 24 fan. The final season was not all that great but I think that I can give a pass. Not every season is going to be steller. After a few years, Maybe now there are topics that they can really write a steller season around.
